Terms & POPIA
This page explains how CHOV^ / CHOVA handles business listing data, community trust, and user conduct. It’s written for real humans (not only lawyers). If something feels off, contact us.
Heads-up: CHOV^ is built town-by-town. Features evolve. This page may update as the platform grows.
1) POPIA & privacy framework
CHOV^ operates as a public-facing commercial directory. We aim to store and display only the minimum business information needed to help local buyers find local sellers.
- Public or submitted data: We only list information that is publicly available, provided by the business/operator, or provided by authorised representatives for the purpose of public visibility.
- Purpose limitation: We use listing data to connect buyers and sellers, support local commerce, and maintain trust and platform safety.
- Consent for submissions: If you submit a listing, you confirm you have the right to submit that info and you consent to it being publicly displayed.
- Corrections: If your listing is inaccurate, you can request a correction or update it yourself.
- Removal requests: You may request that your listing be removed from public search results. You should login and remove it yourself. If unable to, we aim to action removal requests within 2 business days (often faster), subject to verification and platform safety needs.
We don’t sell personal data, or any data. We don’t run creepy cross-site tracking. We don’t do dark-pattern marketing. We dont spam with junk. The goal is a clean powerful valued local utility — not an attention trap.

2) Terms & user conduct
CHOV^ is built to stimulate local business. We do not allow “budget bullying”. Search rankings are designed around relevance, proximity, trust signals, and community merit. We don’t sell “pay-to-bury” tactics.
You may not post misleading claims, fake locations, bait-and-switch pricing, cloned brands, counterfeit goods, or deceptive offers. Grey imports MUST be declared. If you list discounted items, the discount must be real and clearly described. ADULT related business listings must be vague and community safe, first contact us to discuss.
Harassment, hate, threats, extortion, and doxxing are not tolerated. We’re building a platform for builders — not chaos.
CHOV^ FREE classifieds are strictly for discounted items (10% or more) and value deals, limited to 1 advert per 'Directory Lister'. This keeps the feed useful for townspeople and prevents junk. It is also not a 2nd-hand-goods marketplace. We may remove ads that don’t meet the “value deal” standard. 'Directory Listers' can pay for other classified and block ads.
3) Trust, bans & rankings
Verified reports of fraud, bait-and-switch pricing, impersonation, or repeated dishonesty may result in removal from search visibility or a permanent ban from the platform. We encourage the community to report ALL dodgy offers, liers, cheaters, any dishonest behaviour. Chova as an extreme high-end business directory is only useful to you the community when it is clean, respected, respectful and serves you, the people.
Rankings may take into consideration relevance to the search, proximity to the user, listing completeness, response behaviour, community feedback, star ratings, and trust signals. We reserve the right to adjust ranking systems to prevent manipulation and bad actors. We do NOT prioritise paid listings on top, we specifically give new entrants a chance to "be seen", to potentially land sales or work, and get a chance to receive a star ratings. We specifically do not bury free listings, as our purpose is not to enrich established business, but to stimulate new entrepreneurship and job creation.
If your listing is restricted or removed, you may request a review. We’re strict on scams, and bad service providers, deceptive sales and dodgy business practices. We’re fair to honest operators. Chova is designed to promote better service, honest dealings, quality providers and it automatically removes problem companies and bad actor people.
4) Disclaimers
CHOV^ provides a platform for discovery and connection. We do not act as an agent, broker, or middleman in transactions. You are solely responsible for verifying suppliers, products, prices, warranties, and the suitability of any goods or services.
Listings may change, and stock/availability can’t be guaranteed. We require listers to keep data fresh. If a lister says a product advertisied for sale is no longer in stock, please report the product, the lister and incident. It is a term of service for listers to keep all their business information, products, ads and all listing content, fresh, current and valid. Failure to do so will lead to suspension.

CHOV^ and CHOVA are common law trademarks of CHOV^. The CHOV^ wordmark, CHOVA name, brand identity,
and Caret-A logo mark are protected under South African common law, passing-off, and unlawful competition provisions.
Any unauthorised use of the CHOV^ or CHOVA brand names, logo, or proprietary deep-data indexing logic is strictly prohibited.
6) Contact
Email us with the town name + listing details. If you’re requesting removal, include enough info for us to confirm you’re authorised.
